Plum Slate Advantages: Here at Finbarr O’Neills Ltd we have been quarrying plum slate since 1975 at our head quarry in Clashanure, Ovens, Co, Cork.

We sell throughout Ireland and over 10 countries in Europe.

We produce various sizes ranging from 3-6mm, 8-14mm, 20mm, 40-60mm, 60-100mm and 100-200mm.

Uses of Plum Slate

Plum slate can be used in lots of garden features. It’s ideal to put around plants or shrubs to keep the weeds down.

It is a nice heather colour, and when it’s wet it’s an even more vibrant shade of purple.

It’s perfect for pathways, garden borders, flower beds, edging stones, garden walls and plant toppers.

Plum Slate Advantages

Plum slate is a good deterrent for slugs, as it’s not the most suitable surface for them to move on, particularly around hostas.
Another big advantage of plum slate as an alternative to bark mulch is that it doesn’t absorb water compared to the latter.
Plum slate can add colour and beauty to any garden, for example it enhances the look of rockeries or water features creating a more natural feel.
It keeps cats away from shrub and flower beds.
Plum slate is very durable and can withstand weathering and foot traffic.
